IntelliFi-embedded ProSafe Access Points support the following features:
- Dynamic Channel Selection: This function automatically chooses the channel for each access point to avoid interference from other wireless networks devices, such as cordless telephones and microwaves.
- Dynamic Transmit Power: Access points with IntelliFi dynamically tune their signal strength to prevent multiple access points from interfering with each other.
- Automatic Failover: As IntelliFi continuously tunes and selects channels to minimize interference, it automatically fills in coverage when an access point goes off line.
Selecting both a ProSafe Access Point and Wireless Adapter that are IntelliFi capable enables these additional features:
- Automatic Load Balancing: RF management proactively monitors the wireless network and shifts IntelliFi-enabled clients to the access point with the lightest load.
- Rapid Roaming: IntelliFi quickly detects client movement and jumps to most underused access point.
- Enhanced Security: IntelliFi-enabled access points only transmits to the most distant IntelliFi-capable client adapters, automatically adjusting the signal to the smallest possible footprint, making it virtually undetectable outside the building.
IntelliFi is completely self-organizing, and requires minimum human intervention as the access points constantly communicate with each other to monitor changes in the wireless network. It reduces installation and support costs, while improving performance and scalability. You can install ProSafe Access Points with confidence, as they also comply with industry security standards for wireless data encryption, and user authorization. ProSafe Access Points provide support for WPA2 and 802.1x to enable strong mutual authentication and ensure only legitimate clients have access to the network.
